ما هو؟

Vitamin D deficiency means you don't have enough vitamin D in your body. Vitamin D helps our bodies absorb calcium for healthy bone growth.

In children, it can cause soft and weak bones. It can cause muscle weakness, pain and they are more likely to break a bone. It also makes it harder to learn how to use their arms, legs, hands and feet.

In adults, it may cause osteoporosis (weak bones which break easily). It is also linked to some cancers, heart وعن diabetes.

Our body makes vitamin D when our skin is to the sun. The amount of vitamin D your body can make might vary because of:
● The time of year. There is less sun in winter
● How much your cover your skin with clothes
● How often you go outside

People with darker skin find it harder to make vitamin D.

Some vitamin D is found in foods, such as fatty fish, liver, mushrooms and egg yolks.

If you have low vitamin D levels, treatment might changes to your diet, and safe sunlight . Your GP might also suggest taking a vitamin D supplement.
