Adverse Events Following Immunisation (AEFIs) is the term used to describe certain medical issues that people may have after getting a vaccine. Most AEFIs are minor and expected, such as soreness at injection site, feeling a bit tired or unwell. Some AEFIs can be more serious.

The risk of experiencing an AEFI can be reduced by completing a pre-vaccination screening checklist. This helps to make sure you don’t have a medical condition that increases the risk of an AEFI. Your GP can discuss your medical history and determine whether you are at risk of an AFI. Immunisation protects you, your family and the community. If you have any questions about immunisations or AEFIs, speak with your GP.
