Cystic fibrosis is a genetic condition that mostly affects your lungs, pancreas and sweat glands. It causes the build up of thick, sticky mucous that makes it difficult for you to breathe and digest food properly. It can increase your risk of lung and sinus infections, poor nutrition and infertility in males. You will require lifelong treatment guided by a multi-disciplinary team including your GP, but with early diagnosis and proper medical care you can lead a fulfilling life.
