What is falls prevention screening?
Falls are a major cause of injury 和 hospital visits across all aged groups but more so with older adults.
In the community, those aged above 65 years fall at a rate of about 1 in 3 per year. This rate increases with age. About 20% of fallers have fallen before and at the highest risk of injury.
If you have had a fall in the past 12 months, your chance of falling again is highly likely. Falls cause disability, loss of independence 和 isolation in older adults. Building strength and balance is the strongest factor for reducing falls.
