It is very common for a baby to cry a lot during the first 12 months. This is normal and is usually not serious. Sometimes there is a medical reason for a baby's crying. A baby is unsettled when it cries for no reason, for more than 3 hours a day, for more than 3 days a week, for more than 3 weeks. Sometimes a baby can be unsettled even if it does not meet those criteria.

Your GP will talk to you about your baby and ask questions to find out why your baby may not be settling.
