What is it?
When you chew and swallow food, it is pushed down into the stomach by different muscles. Sometimes, the contents of your stomach go back up through the muscles and into the esophagus. This is called reflux. It feels like a burning sensation in your chest. It mostly happens after eating and may be worse while lying down.
Indigestion is the word used for different symptoms, like belly pain and feeling full soon after you start eating. It is not a specific disease. Indigestion can be a symptom of other digestive disorders. It is important to see your GP if you have any symptoms.
