What is subfertility?

Subfertility is when a person finds it hard to fall pregnant.

Eight in ten couples who are trying to have a baby will get pregnant within 12 months. One in ten will get pregnant within two years. One in ten will take longer or will not get pregnant.

Female fertility starts to go down from 35 years and drops faster after age 40 years. Males also lose fertility as well but not as much. Infertility is caused equally by both the male and female partner.

There is treatment for fertility problems. One in two couples with fertility issues will need in vitro fertilisation (IVF). For women aged 35 to 39, IFV works 23% per menstrual cycle. For women aged 40 to 44, IVF works 10% per menstrual cycle.
