Pregnancy can be an emotional time for many women. It’s not uncommon for pregnant women to experience a range of symptoms related to depression and anxiety. Postnatal depression, one of the most common conditions related to pregnancy, begins as antenatal depression (depression during pregnancy) in as many as 40% of women.

It’s important for women to maintain their mental health during pregnancy. Mental health conditions put both the mother and baby at risk. During pregnancy, your medical team will monitor your mental health. If you or your medical team feel you may be at risk of depression or anxiety, there are treatment options to help manage your symptoms and prevent serious health risks. Speak to your GP if you have any questions about managing your mental health during pregnancy.
