What is an inhaled foreign object?
It is very common for small children to put items in their mouths and then inhale them accidentally. Doing this may cause choking. It is important to watch your child at all times when they are eating or playing with small objects. Choking is most common in children under the age of 3 but can happen at any age.
Symptoms of choking include panic, wheezing, coughing, shortness of breath, inability to speak, cry or make any noise, and blue/grey skin.
Choking is a medical emergency. All inhaled foreign objects must be removed. You will also need to visit hospital.
